The Brief
V Installations Mechanical Handling Ltd working with a major Tier 1 line builder, were asked to provide an inline Gap & Flush measurement solution for major automotive manufacturer at two sites within the UK.
Our Approach
Working closely with the line builder and end user, we designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke solution to receive and identify the various body types and accurately position the body on the roller bed.
The system would need to lower the body on to datum tooling to ensure repeated accuracy. Once the measurement was finished the body would be raised and sent along the line to the next process.
A bypass lane would also be required to facilitate a prolonged stay within the measurement cell to allow additional feature measurements or maintenance proposes.

The Results
The system incorporated a Leantechnik solution to lower the body onto datum pins to allow repeated positioning for the Robotic measurement system.
